We all know this time of year is a mixture of emotions which range from glee to rage and whatever sits just aside from dumbfounded and delighted. Sometimes the best way to handle our familial issues is to sit in silence for a couple of hours and let the onscreen families do the talking and dysfunction. Or, maybe you’d long to have another opportunity to roll your eyes and bite your tongue or guess what . . . laugh and hug the whole crew. You know, the more and more I think about it maybe we could all use a voice like Juno’s dad Lady Bird’s mom greet us at the door one more time, even if it takes some restraint and perspective to take the step in the door because at the end of the day that’s living life with family. Or it’s all a mess and you revel it going the Knives Out approach. Happy Holidays!!!!!!

Wakanda Forever is going to stir up A LOT of emotions. On many levels, Chadwick Boseman WAS the best of what Black Panther was for us - dignified grace and strength. We had played out what Black Panther might be like on the big screen and when we saw him thought, yep, they nailed it.
Remembering and celebrating are often riding right along each other. As cinephiles we use movies for a lot of different things - escape, finding our path or getting over something tragic. When our cinematic outlets turns into the source of despair, it can be tough to find more of the celebration. However, part of looking back at stars too soon it allows us to appreciate and then ultimately celebrate that which we got. Although decades apart, both Chadwick Boseman and James Dean share similar spaces in our cinematic minds. Both gone too soon but a catalog of lasting flicks to go back to and move closer and closer to celebration. This is a celebration of the good times we had getting to know these talents and a testament to their ability to create lasting memories for moviegoers decades after. |
