Surprise!!!!

With Barbarian gaining some buzz for the weekend of September 9 and some twists and turns to be served up for audiences, it got us thinking about movies that surprised us: both in the literal sense as it relates to the plot and when it came to expectations, too. This week is a celebration of cinematic surprises that we didn’t see coming but glad we got to go on the ride with our eyes wide open as the movies found the groove.

Flat-Out Surprised
The Sixth Sense, obviously. Fight Club for the wild ride where we all became Jack. Malignant as we all scratched our heads . . . the back of them that is.

Pleasant Surprises
The Lego Movie? Toys being made into ANOTHER movie? Never like this before. The Lego Batman Movie? Another BATMAN movie but with the toy angle? Yep. Genuine thoughts we had and we’re completely blown away at how good both were and are staples of family movie nights.
